Welcome to the Snodland Town Council website
Snodland is situated between the North Downs to the west and the river Medway to the east. Snodland Town Council adopted its status as a Town Council in May 1988, it was originally established as a Parish Council under the Local Government Act of 1894, and the first meeting was held on Monday December 31st 1894 and is, as a Parish Council, the first level of local government for the Snodland community.
The Town Council is responsible for three public open spaces - Nevill Park, Recreation Ground and Willowside; two sportsgrounds -the Cricket Meadow and Potyns Sportsground. This includes the maintenance and replacement of play equipment and the maintenance of the grounds. The Town Council also has its own Cemetery and allotment gardens. They are also responsible for approximately 170 of the town’s streetlights, festive lighting and summer hanging baskets.
The Council offices are situated at the rear of the Devonshire Rooms in Waghorn Road and has a function room within the building that it hires out for private and business use.
The Town Council also organises special events throughout the year. These are: the annual Carnival held in July, Firework display in November, Remembrance parade in November and the Christmas Light switch on at the end of November/Early December.
